A dinner worth $ 1 trillion

The perfect guest list for a fantasy dinner party, which happened sometime in the second week of February marks holds a significant key for the technology industry of US and world over. Guess, it was one the most power-packed dinner too!

Together representing companies of worth nearly $1 trillion on table they are the people everybody knows and wants to dine with. John Doerr, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, invited the wealthiest set of guest to his home in a mega enclave of Woodside, California.

The dinner served exactly 15 people including John Doerr. Eric Schmidt, Arthur D Levinson, John T Chambers, Larry Elison, Reed Hastings, John L Hennessy, Carol Bartz, Dick Costolo, Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, Steve Jobs, Steve Westly and Ann Doerr were on time to attend the copious dinner thrown by John Doerr. But do you know who they are and what they do?

ERIC SCHMIDT: Executive Chairman of Google, worth $ 7 billion, has seen Google transform into the global internet giant. He stepped down as CEO last month and is now a member of the president’s Council of Advisors on Science and technology.

ARTHUR D LEVINSON: He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Genentech. He is currently a Corporate Director at Apple Inc. His net worth stands as $ 850,000 in 2011.

JOHN T CHAMBERS: CEO and Chairman of the Cisco systems, John is worth $ 1 billion. He earns his seat as Chairman of Cisco, the dotcom boom’s most valuable company.

JOHN DOERR: A venture capitalist by profession at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the host for the evening is worth $ 2.2 billion.

LARRY ELISON: Lawrence Joseph Elison or Larry is the Co-founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation. With a personal wealth of $ 39.5 billion, he is the fifth richest man in the world.

REED HASTINGS: An entrepreneur and philanthropist, Reed Hastings is the Co-founder and CEO of Netfix. Worth $ 5.5 million, he is also a board member at Microsoft.

JOHN L HENNESSY: He is the president of the Stanford University, which has a long association with the area’s technology companies, many of whose founders have passed out from the same university. His net worth is $ 31.4 million.

CAROL BARTZ: She is the CEO of Yahoo!, who holds the honour of having topped a 2010 list of executives paid too much for running underperforming companies. Her net worth is $ 47.2 million.

DICK COSTOLO:  He is the CEO of twitter, is a computer science graduate and former improvisational comedian. His net worth is $ 120 million.

MARK ZUCKERBERG: Everyone knows him and gapes at his success mantra. He is the CEO of facebook and is worth $ 13.5 billion.

BARACK OBAMA: Yes, US President was also invited for his love of technology. His aide Valerie Jarrett also attended the dinner. His net worth is $ 10.5 million.

STEVE JOBS: Co-founder and CEO of Apple and is worth $ 8.3 billion. He has transformed the technology several times and has kept the level of innovation always rising.

STEVE WESTLY: The founder of The Westly group is worth $ 500 million. A venture capitalist by profession he also served as a California, Co-chair for Obama’s 2008 presidential election campaign.

ANN DOERR: The hostess is a philanthropist and is no stranger to technology, holding a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering. She works with her husband in various philanthropic projects.

The menu was not revealed but head chef Yigit Pura said that Obama kissed his hands and said “Banana cream pie was solid.”
